A Great Life Cannot be Lived in Vain

2023

Oil and acrylic on canvas

200 × 130 cm.

In “A Great Life Cannot Be Lived in Vain” (2023), a geometric modernist residence rises on slender concrete supports above a fractured terrain of dense vegetation and dark debris. Its architectural clarity is disrupted by flame and smoke erupting from the roof. The title introduces an uneasy tension between aspiration, privilege and collapse. Combining oil and acrylic on a large-scale canvas, Sami sets rigid architectural order against volatile brushwork, turning the promise of domestic sanctuary into an image of instability and destruction.
