The Contract

2013 Mabeyn Gallery, Istanbul, TR
"The Contract" brings together paintings that explore the relationship between architectural space, historical memory, and the changing meanings of places and structures. Drawing on sites associated with historical events, experimental projects, and cultural institutions, the exhibition reflects an interest in how architecture bears traces of the past.

Moving between recognisable architectural references and painterly abstraction, Djochkoun Sami's works revisit these spaces through a process of pictorial transformation, allowing their original contexts to give way to new and sometimes ambiguous associations.
